Managing Files

The Files screen lists every encrypted file in your vault. From here you can preview files without decrypting them to disk, download them, move them, or delete them.

The file list

Each row shows the file name, size, last modified date, and cloud status:

Use the search box at the top to filter by filename. You can also filter by type or cloud status.

File details

Click any file to open its detail panel on the right. The panel shows the file ID, original filename, size, dates, cloud status, local path, and the decryption password (with a copy button).

Actions

View (in-app preview)

Click View to open the file in SecureCrypt's built-in secure viewer. The file is decrypted in memory - nothing is written to disk. Supported formats:

Files in other formats can still be decrypted and saved to disk using Download.

Download

Click Download to decrypt the file and save it to disk. A file-save dialog opens with the original filename and extension pre-filled. Choose where to save it, then click Save.

Upload to cloud

Visible for files with Local only status. Uploads the encrypted file to your cloud storage so it is accessible from other devices and can be shared.

Move

Changes where the encrypted .scv file is stored on this device. Useful for moving files to an external drive. The cloud copy is not affected.

Delete

Removes the file from your vault, cloud storage, and the local disk. A confirmation dialog is shown first. This cannot be undone.

Decrypting a file you received

If you have a .scv file from someone else (sent outside of SecureCrypt), use the Decrypt screen from the sidebar. Pick the file with Pick Encrypted File, enter the password the sender gave you, and save the decrypted output.

Files shared within SecureCrypt appear in your Inbox - you do not need to enter a password manually for those.
